In making payment you accept our terms and conditions.
Payments: we work on a first come first serve basis and upfront payment is required to secure your order. After receiving a quotation or an invoice, 50% of the total is required as a booking fee. You will then receive an invoice for the final payment due 30 days (7 days for non-wedding related orders) before the date that the order is placed for, hereinafter referred to as the event date. Changes to the order may not be made after booking fee has been paid.
Cancellation policy:
Date change: If a date change is made more than 30 days prior to the event date, the vendor, Melinda’s Kitchen, may accommodate the date change only if the requested new date is available. If the vendor is unable to change the event date due to unavailability, then the order is considered cancelled and the vendor reserves the right to withhold the booking fee and refund only amounts above the booking fee (if amounts other than the booking fee have been paid).
If a date change is made less than 30 days prior to the event date, the vendor may accommodate the date change only if the requested date is available. If the vendor is unable to change the event date due to unavailability, then the order is considered cancelled and the vendor reserves the right to withhold full payment of the order. It is the clients responsibility to check that the due date on the invoice is correct.
Cancellation: If an order is cancelled more than 30 days prior to the event date, the vendor reserves the right to withhold the booking fee and refund only amounts above the booking fee (if amounts other than the booking fee have been paid). If an order is cancelled less than 30 days prior to the event date, the vendor reserves the right to withhold full payment of the order.
Product handling: Cakes needs to be served at room temperature. Cakes that have stored in the fridge should be taken out of the fridge to allow to come to room temperature (weather depending: cold days take out +- 3 hours prior, hot days take out an hour to an hour and a half prior to serving). Cold cake tastes old and dry.
Once your cake / products have been collected or delivered to your specified venue, we will not be held responsible for any damage to the cake after delivery and or set up is complete. You or your venue is responsible for ensuring an appropriate and secure table and environment for the cake / products. Large cakes can be heavy and require a sturdy table. Storage instructions will be communicated for the specific type of cake / products and signed off.
Should damage occur to the cake / products through no fault of the vendor, the client may request for the vendor to fix the cake prior to the event start time (subject to vendor’s availability). Please note that in this instance, a call out & service fee of from R750 and over will be incurred and payment must be made at the time that alterations/fixes are made to the cake. Please note that once your cake / products have been collected it is advisable to drive it in an air-conditioned vehicle, on the flattest surface, i.e the floor of the passenger seat or in the boot on a nonslip mat under the cake box.
Allergy warning: We work in a kitchen that uses nuts and nut products, gluten, dairy, eggs etc. If you have an allergy, please do inform us. We will try our best to not let your order get in contact with the allergen but, we cannot guarantee this – ordering from us is entirely at your own risk.
Cake decorations and final product: All decorative elements we put onto our cakes, from flowers and glitter to gold leaf and so on, are non-toxic and not harmful to humans. Decorations like gold leaf and glitters in particular are safe to use on cakes for decorative purposes only, consumption will not harm a person but it cannot be classified as “edible” since it is not a food. Our cakes and products are handmade and inspired by your flavour choice and design guidelines. Therefore we will never produce an exact replica of our own work and more so of other cake designers’ work. Availability of specific ingredients and flowers will vary seasonally but we will always try our best to find a suitable substitution, if need be, with or without prior notice.
